School Safety Grants
The WI Department of Justice (DOJ) has various school safety grants for schools. The DOJ is seeking applications for programs and projects related to unusual or atypical acts or threats of school-related violence or trauma.
2021 Wisconsin Act 109 Digital Mapping of School Buildings
Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2026
The passage of 2021 Wisconsin Act 109 amends 2017 Wisconsin Act 143, now allowing school boards, governing bodies of private schools, charter schools, and tribal schools to submit digital maps of their school buildings, (in lieu of blueprints) to the Office of School Safety to comply with 2017 Wisconsin Act 143 and 2021 Wisconsin Act 109.
With this update, the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) - Office of School Safety (OSS) is seeking applications from school boards, governing bodies or private schools, charter schools and tribal schools interested in obtaining reimbursed funds for digital mapping data.
Speak Up, Speak Out Student Instructional Materials Grant
This opportunity supplies SUSO student instructional materials to school communities that have implemented or are implementing SUSO. Schools may be reimbursed up to $1,000 per school building for student instructional materials every 12 months through this grant.
SSI Grants - Critical Incident Stabilization Funds
The purpose of this grant is to assist schools that need additional resources to respond or recover from a critical incident. There are specific qualifications that a school/district must meet prior to applying, and these funds are awarded differently than other school safety grant funds. A panel of representatives from the OSS Advisory Committee will review and determine if an application will be approved.
Leadership & Learning Grants
The NEA Foundation offers learning and leadership to individual educators or groups of educators who are pursuing high-quality professional learning experiences that will enhance their classroom teaching, leadership skills, or professional partnerships. Learning and Leadership grants are intended to provide resources for educators hoping to engage in professional learning that can be implemented in their classrooms.

BJA STOP School Violence Program
Eligible Products: Solutions that will improve school climate. Solutions include school-based behavioral threat assessments and/or intervention teams to identify school violence risks among students, technological innovations that are shown to increase school safety such as anonymous reporting technology, and other school safety strategies that assist in preventing violence.
Submission Deadline: April 3, 2025
The STOP School Violence Act of 2018 seeks to improve school security by providing students and teachers with the tools they need to recognize, respond quickly to, and prevent acts of violence. Both the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) offer grants to improve security within our Nation's schools and on school grounds through evidence-based programs.
