CESA Purchasing Partners with Digital R-E-D
CESA Purchasing is excited to announce its new Vendor Partnership with Digital R-E-D, an eWaste recycling and pickup organization. With Digital R-E-D providing their transparent and innovative service through the CESA Purchasing program, districts can now easily and sustainably remove almost all their old electronic technology.
Digital R-E-D helps organizations maintain digital sustainability by safely recycling end-of-life electronics and sensitive data. When providing eWaste to Digital R-E-D, they follow NIST 800-88 guidelines to dispose of data safely. They also give users a report about how their recycled technology was disposed of or reused and the impact on the environment.
Covering most technology besides refrigerators and fluorescent bulbs, Digital R-E-D can process much of the digital technology waste generated in Wisconsin schools. With a zero landfill policy, Digital R-E-D partners with various organizations to ensure any eWaste that can be recycled appropriately is.
"When you think of how much technology is in our Wisconsin districts, it’s stressful to think how to dispose of it all properly," said Meghan Cropp, Partnerships Manager for CESA Purchasing. “Through the new partnership with Digital R-E-D, we hope schools will not worry anymore about how to recycle their next batch of old technology.”
"ALL end-of-life technology (eWaste) has a story to tell once it leaves your organization. Digital R-E-D is here to provide that story with the level of detail and reporting showing what was scrapped, what was reused, and how much CO2 was saved,” said Al Lainio, representative at Digital R-E-D. “We are living in a time where climate change is real and is impacting us every day.
